June 2/23

It's June and it is going to be a busy one!

Bocce Ball!

Div. 11 loves Free Choice Friday! Some love to be outside while others like to play inside.

Our Scientists have continued to 'inspire' us all.  Luciano demonstrated how potatoes are a conductor of electricity, Cooper made pepper run away from soap, Cai showed us food colouring fireworks, Iris demonstrated what would happen if you put oranges into water (one was peeled, one was not), and Dominic made a 'Rainbow Jar'.  This week we learned a lot about density (thanks to Dominic's dad who came in to help explain this further!)

Div. 11 and Fairview have lots of events and activities planned please mark your calendars so you will be ready for everything.  Thanks for your continued support!

Important Reminders:

Recipes are due: please send in recipes asap.  If you have misplaced the papers, please let me know and I can send you new ones.  If any parents are available to help copy and bind the cookbook please let me know.

White T-shirts: please send in this week as we need to organize and prepare them prior to Tie Dying Day.

Memory Book: please either pay on the parent portal or send in $10 cash.

Bowling: permission and payment can be done on the parent portal, or cash can be sent in, in a labelled ziplock.  Please indicate if you are able to drive for this field trip, please remember you have to fill out the district driver and volunteer forms.  Please also let me know if you are planning to drive your child.

Parent Volunteers:  I will be emailing all parents that said that they may be available to help out with our Food For Us food prep. Mrs. Sirovyk and I have planned a special lunch and movie on Wednesday, June 21 between recess and lunch as well as a couple other days when we plan to bake something.                Also if anyone is able to take home a bin or two of manipulative to wash that would be very appreciated.  Please email me.  Thanks so much, I always try to wash every bin of building and math objects at the end of the year and this is a huge job.

Monday, June 5 - Volunteer Tea 1:30 and Kona Ice after school.  This is fundraiser is for our Grade 7's.

Thursday, June 8 - we will be walking over to Maple Ridge Christian School for Phys Ed stations between recess and lunch.  Please ensure that your child has runners and clothing they can be active in.

Please look around your home and return any classroom books.

In Math we have been learning about fractions, next time you have pizza please discuss fractions and how much each family member eats and how many fractions of each kind!
